For those who have the Noveske NSR hand guard mounted to an upper without the little pin hole for the anti-rotation pin, have you had any issues with the hand guard rotating?  I'll be mounting it on a rifle that I will be shooting classes and matches with.  I don't know if this is a non issue or not.  So I'm kind of looking for opinions or experience with the NSR on an upper without using the anti-rotation pin.

Thanks,
Russ

No experience with what you are asking but I just read a thread on ADCO page about them drilling an upper to accept the pin.

Think they quoted $50 to do it.

Good luck.

I just drilled the hole in the receiver myself.  I put the pin in the rail and used it to put a mark on the receiver.  Fit together perfectly.

I do not see the rail moving.

I have one pinned and one not.

There are six screws holding it in place.

Only way I see it moving is due to a loose barrel nut or improperly torqued screws. A dab of removeable loctite and they are not going anywhere.

Noveske even uses loctite on their screws with the anti-rotation pin in place.

It is a solid rail design.

The issue is aligning he rail and making sure that the rail doesn't unscrew the barrel nut itself. Relying on the gas tube alone to prevent the nut from loosening is okay. You probably won't find anyone complaining that their barrel nut loosened on them. It's tough to do that when you're taking the AR out of its padded case over to the posed position for photography.

I decided it would be worth the expense to have ADCO drill my VLTOR MUR uppers. You'll have less alignment issues with your iron sights.

I think I'll get the upper drilled.  At the very least, it'll give me peace of mind.

Mine hasn't moved. I don't have the tools to drill my own pin but it can't hurt to do it.
