| So I get my email from BCM and jump out of bed, am on the internet on their site in less than 30 seconds, and out of stock. This is absolutely ridiculous. I can't even get an on time email. Now some guys probly bought them to sell for double on the EE. What a joke... |
|
I never even got the email. I was watching the thread here. Persistence pays off.
Oh, and... http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-UIvP7U37CDY/TvJERwQT8jI/AAAAAAAABaY/Xn7vB47D_Tk/s1600/crybaby.jpg |
| This is the fourth time I have gotten an email and been on the internet in less than a minute to find them "Out of Stock". I am assuming I am getting delayed emails. If I could get an on time email, it would be a different story. What email providers are you guys using that have gotten them on time and been able to purchase one of these bad boys? |
|
The e-mail system is out of date - the trick is to be on arfcom all day and hit newest topics every 5 to 10 minutes. Desperate times call for desperate measures. It finally paid off for me although I am in front of a computer all day at work. Hope this helps. If you want I will give me a call or e-mail you when they come back in stock to help you out. Let me know. Thx. |

Quoted: Hell yeah man! That would be awesome. See I work overnights so I have to sleep during the day. My sleep and overall health is more important than a gun part(which I'm sure anyone that has worked overnights understands). I'm sending you an IM. Cool no problem man glad to help a brother out! |
| I get them instantly to my phone. The time stamp in my regular email and my phone is exact same time. I have verified this with past emails. Example, I made a purchase live and they emailed my receipt. I received it on my phone within like 15 seconds. This was a LGS too not a major company. |

Your complaining about your emails? If your getting them on your phone how often do you have your email being pushed? Some times they are set to only retrieve every hour explaining your late emails. Thank you for reminding me. Changed phone setting to push every 5 min during 7am-5pm. |

If you've got a computer that you can keep online at home, set it up with page monitor and send yourself e-mail alerts. I set it up to check every 60 seconds and send the alerts to my phone. Never knew it could send email alerts. Good to know. For the people who say the email server is slow and this is causing a delay its just not the case. The in stock alerts are sent out about 30 minutes after the fact. |
| Long enough for me to see the posts in the bolt carrier thread here, think about whether I wanted to spend $240 on a BCG or wait for things to die down, decide I didn't and set my phone down, then change my mind and place the order (succeeding on the second try). |
| the email notify was sent to me about 5 minutes after my purchase conf came in which was 2 hours after i bought the bcg and it was already out of stock. or something like that but watch the bcg thread cause that is why i have gotten several bcgs ,.those guys are great detectives . |

This is not directed at you OP specifically, but to those looking to snag up a hard to find item with little or no work.
If you're relying on email notifications from sites for "in stock" items, you're probably never going to get anything in time. You either have to been refreshing the "in stock" threads all day and night, running a "scanner" plugin, or just happen to looking at the site when it goes in stock. In any of these cases you are going to be spending hours upon hours before you get a hit. This is when you need to think about just how much your time is worth. $25 an hour? $50? $100? I don't get paid by the hour, but I know how much my time is worth. If its that damn important that you have a BCG, upper, pmag, or whatever right NOW, then maybe you ought to just cough up the extra dough and buy it on EE or gunbroker and get your ass to the range or at least get off the damn computer. If you refuse to pay inflated prices mainly on the grounds of principle (as opposed to financial constraints), then fine, but just stop the damn whining. There is a solution to every problem, but bitching is not a solution. I can't count how many times someone has come into the "in stock" threads and bitched about the chatter. A lot of the people "chatting" are the same ones that spend day and night looking for items and updating the thread. So the next non-contributor of in stock items that tells people to "take it to GD", remember these words: "We have neither the time nor the inclination to explain ourselves to a lurker who clicks the links of in stock items that we provide, and then questions the manner in which we provide it. We would rather you just said thank you, and went on your way, Otherwise, we suggest you pick up a keyboard, and glue your finger to the F5 key.” |

Unfortunately I have a job. And doesn't involve being in front of a computer. So I have to rely on my phone. Settings changed wish me luck. I assume its a smartphone since you are getting your email on it. Install the "Update Monitor" app and it will instantly alert you when a webpage changes. |

I don't quite understand that post about not buying from BCM. They are top quality and they are coming from a reputable company and not some selfish profit-seeker trying to rip people off. It will come straight to me in a couple of days without me having to risk my personal info buying from a stranger and it will be factory new and unused. I won't have to worry whether or not someone has messed with it, changed parts, fired it and cleaned it, etc and then posted it for sale. This was also the first that I was able to find in stock. There are only a few that I was willing to buy: BCM, Fail Zero, WMD, DD, CMT, LMT, etc. Was not going to risk buying one of the crappy knock-offs that all these nobody companies are having made as of late. Either way, my rifle will be functioning soon and that's all that matters. |

I don't think it was meant as a dig against BCM ( atleast I don't think it was ) I think he was just saying they are always out of stock so why bitch about not getting any BCG's from them. Personally, I buy from BCM when they have what I'm looking for. |

What exactly should I look at when I first inspect the BCG? I know to check the firing pin to make sure it is not bent or broken and to check for cracks in the carrier. What else should I check for to make sure it is a quality piece that will work properly? Lick the carrier from end to end and make sure the lube is not too salty but not too sweet, either. |
