I recently ordered and received a new Del-Ton 16' upper, completed my build and took it to the range, I'm a Marine Corps vet, and know how to zero my weapon, and took some targets to the local range and started at 25m I fitted my BUIS to the rifle, it's the same one that came off my M4 I had in Iraq and I was holding dime sized groups at 25m... but all low, I lowered my front sight post until it was bottomed out, but my best group was still 1/2" below the bull at 25 meters, took it over to the 100, dropped down to about 1" below the bull... still tight groups, before I put an optic on it, I want to ensure that it fires, and hits well with the BUIS, I have a Red Dot I'm going to put on it, but honestly I guess I'm old Corps and insist on my Irons being spot on... Is there a place to get a shorter front sight post, or should I remove it and file a little away, or am I just being an old coot who's behind the times and shouldn't worry about my iron sights?
A little Background on the rifle... it has a 16" Del-Ton upper, Spikes BCG, SAA Forged Lower, PSA LPK and all Magpul (handguard, pistol grip, moe stock and carbine length hand guards)... there's nothing really cheap per say about the weapon as to where I can blame any one part... |
