So I bought a 300BLK barrel and BCG from Midway a few months ago, and put it together recently.

Nice, everything is going smoothly, made a Dissy out of it.  For the record, it's an S-I Defense barrel and bolt that I bought to complete the S-I Defense upper/lower package I bought a few years back.

Today I took it out of the sleeve I'd put it away in for when I had playtime, took an empty case that fits sweetly into a Wilson case gauge and loaded a Hornady projectile into the case for a mock-up.

Chambered the 'round' gently, the bolt won't close.  ??   OK, I had eased the bolt closed for first fit.

Chambered an empty case by hand, and let the bolt go from about 1 inch.

It not only didn't let the bolt close, but it took me about 45 minutes to get that bastage back out.  The bolt rotated, but not into battery.

Case has axial scratches on it about 30% of the circumference that I didn't put onto the dummy round.  I'll post a pic or two when I thaw the cam out.  I'm still cleaning up the shop and looking at Midway for Go/No-Go gages.  %#@*!, it's not like I was looking to piss ~$70 plus shipping away on for a one-time tool.

And the case rim fits nicely into the bolt face.  No trouble with the extractor/ejector, smooth fit no matter how I rotate the rim, no burrs etc.

Colorful anecdotes to share?

I'm not in a hurry on this one, it's a project to play with.  I've got plenty of other stuffs to shoot, I just wanted something that I could use all that 5.56 brass with dented case mouths for.  It's not like I've got powder/projectiles/primers to use.

Was the barrel advertised as drop-in ready?  Many barrels require final reaming to proper headspace dimensions by a gunsmith prior to use.

Didn't SI have some known issues with barrels? Basically this?

Yes, it was.

Enough good reviews on the barrel when it was available for me to take a chance.  The only bad reviews were from people claiming it was gassed incorrectly when they shortened the barrel, or ran it suppressed with supersonic ammo.  They mostly sounded like malcontents when you read what they were bitching about, and what they expected from the barrel that made no claims about suppressors and SBRs.

To the best of my ability to remember, they made some out of spec uppers that had issues with the BCG rubbing, but thats not the case with this one.

Have you ever seen an AR barrel done this way?

You can rent chamber gauges from 4-D reamers for about $5 ea but shipping would be about  $15 to you and back to them

It doesn't matter what I have seen.  Especially considering it is not a standard chambering.  That is why I asked, and clearly stated 'SOME" barrels.
