I have a new Lite DD barrel and a BMC LoPro gas block I need to install. The block has two set screws at the bottom so my question is: Do I need to have dimples drilled in the barrel to keep it from shifting?

Thanks guys,

You'll get a yes and no answer to this question depending on the poster.  I prefer to have the dimples in the barrel.  Helps keep it in place and also helps you align the gas block properly.

Not hard to put the dimples in the barrel.  I highly recommend the jig

Note, I am a firm believer in overkill.  So after I dimple my barrel I use this jig to pin it in place

Don't think this will be moving any time soon

Bottom line, it depends on your level of OCD

As the first post said...Yes and No.

They make them to go on without dimples, but dimples are cheap insurance.  That being said, I put mine on without dimpling the barrel.  If the gas block moves I'll pull it and dimple the barrel.  I used thread locker blue so hopefully they stay put.

Those Rainier items have been on my want list for awhile. You can also send it in to Rainier or Adco and have it installed, dimpled, pinned, or whatever you want. Having a dimple put in it, or doing it yourself makes it easier to lime up with the gas hole in the barrel.

I've emailed ADCO about a week ago with no response. Never heard of the other company. This would be my first go around pinning and giving the current climate of parts availability I'm going to have it done.

Thanks guys for the input.
