Pictures of the lower I made from scratch. We left the side thick so I could do the 3D work. Functions flawlessly. It took awhile to make sure the law really reads that you can make a single lower for personal use but we finally verified it.I have some polishing to do before it goes out to plating. I have the upper going out also. It will be Nickel Plated. More pics will follow.

It will eventually have better furniture on it.
As for making more, that is a no go. Our boss graciously let us make these in the shop on or own time as long as we did not break the law. He has no interest in dealing with the ATF. I did not heattreat this one at all. I had it Nickel Plated which is about 50 Rockwell. Then the plater painted the inside with teflon and baked it into the pores of the Nickel. It's very slick and nothing sticks to it. Most of the credit for the programming and set-up goes to Jeff R whom I work with. I did the 3D EGA and Flag. This will be more of a safe queen in the end. I have plenty of other AR's in the safe to play with. Just not ones I built like this one. |
