| So i just finished my first build, I used an Adams arms gas piston, but before test firing i wanted to cycle a clip to check for feed issues, but when i picked up the ammo i noticed a very light dimpling on the primer, is this safe and normal or is there some issue i need to address, and yes i had the rifle outside pointed in a safe direction just in case of an unplanned discharge |

Normal. The AR firing pin floats and it's inertia allows it to contact the primer when the bolt is closed.
Some recommend not rechambering the same round repeatedly as there are (rare) cases of "slam fire" where the pin actually does ignite the primer. ALWAYS keep the muzzle pointed in a safe direction to include when you are charging the weapon. |
