I'm soon going to be building my first AR-15, I've been researching for almost the last year on parts. I'm looking for some affirmation or correction on the parts list I've assembled, from what I can tell lurking around here it should be pretty good. This gun is going to be my SHTF rifle, which means it's built around long term reliability. It will also be a range rifle until I can afford another AR down the road. I may also eventually suppress it, maybe.
Upper: BCM Middie 1/8 twist Chrome lined ~$565 BCM BCG properly chromed and staked, $159 Magpul furniture in OD Green. Why OD? Cause it's boss! Magpul ACS Stock and storage ready grip (for batterys, a small survival saw or cordage and basic firestarter kit) $105 together Magpul BUIS ($60) or maybe a troy ($108) if I feel I have the money. Probably the Magpul though if I plan on having.... EOTech 516 ($489), whose batteries are the same as those needed in a.... TLR1 for $105 P-Mags OD Green w/ window for $15/ea x however many I can afford For the life of me I can't find any decent completed lower kits, or moderately priced stripped lowers in stock. That's one of my biggest questions, any good stripped or completed lowers still out there? If a stripped is suggested, any recommended lower parts kits complete with buffer tube? All in not counting the lower or mags I'm looking at roughly $1560, figure another $200 for the lower and we're at almost $1800. Should I even go through the trouble of all that considering I've found a Daniel Defense M4V7 for $1250, which with the EOTech and TLR-1 would come to roughly $1850 and be complete as is? I don't mind spending more money for high quality stuff, but I'm on a budget of less than $2000 so a new LMT or Noveske or what have you is out - after all I need money for that first 1000 rounds :) Please bestow your wisdom generously! I'm open to all feedback, and thank you for reading |
