I've owned several Colt AR15's over the years, starting with my first SP1 when I was 17. I'm now 50 and have worked on guns most of my life and want to build an AR now and would like opinions please.

I'm thinking about ordering THIS lower and a CAR-15 Rifle Kit Pre Ban parts kit from HERE (AR15-KITS.com)

The lower "appears to be good quality but my real concern is the rest of the parts kit and barrel. Do any of you see any problems going this route ?

Any advice is appreciate,

Steve

EDIT: Well, when I posted last night PSA lowers showed in stock, this morning they show out of stock. Seems like every supplier I find with decent (IMO) pricing, they are out of stock.

Good evening folks - new to the forum. I just purchased two lowers with consecutive serial numbers 2 weeks ago from a company called USA Tactical in Statesville, North Carolina. They told me they had plenty in stock because they machine them in house. They are however a little pricey at $125.00 each, but the quality appears top notch.

I was trying to get my hands on a couple of RRA's or Armalite's but was told by both companies it could be up to six months before either would have any stripped lowers for sell. Apparently all their lowers are being used for their complete rifle builds.

That's understandable I guess but it didn't help my cause any. But since I was already looking at a six month wait after submitting a form 1 for a SBR, I needed to get my grubby little hands on a serial number ASAP before firing off the paper work to the feds a few days ago. The USA Tacts' fit the bill. And now the wait begains ...

PS - just checked their web site and they were showing $149 for the lowers. Apparently the price I paid was for in-store purchase. Give them a call and see if they will work with you on the price. They seem to be a really nice group of folks to work with.

Autogunner:  The PSA lower is OK, but I suggest you buy your LPK from a name brand outfit like Brownells.  My favorite source for major parts like receivers and barrel is Rainier Arms.  I picked up a matched pair of upper/lower forged receivers last week from their retail outlet here in WA state.  The quality is superb (made by Mega) and the price was not that much more than the cheapest brands.  BTW, its important to get a high quality upper receiver so the barrel will be a nice tight fit. good luck - CW
