I ordered these with Magpul CTR and MOE plastic in XM177E2 configuration.  My son and I put these together.  My #15 and his #1.  He's 12 years old and loving the experience.  C3 Defense Billet Lowers, Model 1 Sales upper kits.  Just thought I'd share.

Awesome job keeping the kid involved.  Rifles look great too!

He should be proud, those are better looking ARs than 'professionals' make.

Both look nice. The bottom one has the rear MBUS sight mounted backwards though.

Very nice.  The bottom rifle should not have the MBUS attached to the gas block rail.  It will be too low and could melt.  The MBUS is designed to line up when attached to a rail on top of the handguard.

^^ as was said in the two previous posts.  The MBUS's on the bottom rifle are on backwards.  Also, that railed gas block is a different height, so the front MBUS will not work (and could melt), you will need a front sight that is designed for a gas block.  Other than that, they look great! Wish my father got me into ARs when I was younger, I had to wait until I turned 18 to get one, and now I'm the one teaching him

First of all, very nice looking builds! I have a question for the original poster. I am doing a couple of builds that are very similar. Did you use the round or triangular hand guard cap behind the front gas block? Were there any issues with fitting the MOE hand guards? I would just as soon use some type of clamp on gas block rather than doing the machining for the standard front sight and gas block. I have the equipment, I'm just lazy.

I think I also I need a recommendation from one of you guys about what height and even brand of gas block to install so that the front sight will line up with the sight on the rear rail. Both guns will get some type of optic but I would also appreciate an idea of which brand sights would work with the front gas block, just in case.

Any other advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance for everyone's help.

I'll be building an A2 clone with my nine year old starting next week.  He'll be handy if I need small hands, as long as I can keep him focused.
