I'm wondering what are my other options for a gas block for a 16in barrel. I want something to allow me to have a flip down front sight.

Get a combo flip up/gas block.

For the price the YHM is a good route.

Not sure exactly sure what you want to end up with.

Another option besides a gas block with a flip-up sight is a low-profile block

with a free float rail that covers the block and a buis mounted on the rail.

The only thing you shouldn't do is a gas block with an integral rail on it and a magpul front sight because

Magpuls aren't metal.

I would do a low profile, run a rail over it and then mount the sights on the rail...

Just my $0.02

The only way to go. The most rail estate potential with the added benefit of gas block protection.
