Hey everyone,

I have a s&w mp15 that i want to remove the fde moe handgaurd and replace with free float.

Heres the catch,

A. I dont want to remove the barrel nut (it needs to use the stock barrel nut)

B. it also needs to slip over the railed gas block that is also stock. It just has to slip over for install, not actually long enough to always cover the gas block.

Any ideas?

MI 2-Piece Free float uses the standard barrel nut and can be installed without removing the gas block. Don't have one personally but i haven't heard many complaints about them.

You will need a two peice rail to put the rail on without removing the gas block. Daniel Defense Omega rails, Centurion Arms rails, and Midwest Industries two piece free float rails would work for this.

I personally prefer a longer rail, so I would suggest buying a low profile set screw gas block and installing it under a longer rail system. (I generally like a 12" rail system) This would also let you install a Troy Alpha rail or Samson Evolution.
