I have not been able to locate any retailers that sell the OPS-4 upper.  An email to LAR a few months ago requesting a "dealer" list confirmed that.  The stripped uppers are really hard to find.

I have a bud on weaponsguild that had a brand new one he bought in a group buy I ran a year or so ago and never built up......and had it up for sale...it is a flat top with complete bolt carrier group.

I sent him a pm....if he still has it...send me your email and I'll hook the two of you up.

Did you try to buy one from LAR? They do sell to the public if you're in that much of a hurry. Alternatively, I've seen post of people who buy a 9mm upper and have their smith cut a groove and tap the BCG to add a handle. Is there a reason you don't want the ASA?

Buying from LAR isn't quicker than buying from a retailer, as dealer orders are given higher priority, and placed (most likely) much earlier than a consumers order. So, a consumer would get their order several months after ordering. There's really no hard ETA on their uppers, and we've had our last batch on order for a couple months I think.

I guess I'm really lucky to have LAR local,  I've built two OPS4 AR's within the past six months and just went down to the factory and picked them up, no wait/problems, walked out the same day with them.

I wish they'd send em out faster, but it makes sense they'd pull some aside for local guys to pickup. Nobody wants to walk in a local storefront of a manufacturer, and not be able to pickup inventory. Spike's does something similar, by giving a little bit of inventory to a small storefront to allow locals to at least be able to see/purchase some stuff if they swing by.

When I last talked to LAR like a little over a week ago they told me that if I ordered one it would be like 3 weeks at the most so other venders like Joe Bobs should get orders soon but not sure if that will happen.  I hope so I didnt order because I figured I would and then they would come available where i could get them sooner from somone like Joe Bobs!!!! Hope they come available soon I am going to call LAR tomorrow as well as Joe Bobs and element arms all tomorrow to see if anything is available yet!!! I WANT ONE BAD HAHA

I wanted one.  At Joe Bobs I entered my email under the notify me when in stock.  I got the email they are in stock and ordered right away.  I now have one.  That's the route I took.  Easy.  I only waited about 2-3 weeks.

Spoke with the shop guy at LAR earlier this week, as I'm interested in picking up an OPS-4 upper, as well.

I was told there's a 3-4 week ETA right now, so I've got one on preorder.

However, I'll look into JoeBob and Evolution, just in case they *do* get uppers in stock before LAR starts shipping to individual consumers.

Sure wish I could find one in stock; I'm almost ready to build!

Hello,

I was wondering if anyone has heard anymore about the LAR OPS-4s becoming available. I have been trying to contact LAR by phone and email to no avail and all of the retail suppliers still appear out of stock. Anyone have an update? Please let me know!!!

Thanks,
Christian

Alright, so I am not all about advertising here personally I feel its tacky... however, I will try and help out a fellow member.  The Gun shop I work for sells them and orders direct from LAR all the time. In fact they are the ones making us custom stripped lowers.  Anyway, call "Get Some" Guns and Ammo in Orem, UT.  I know before I left for overseas deployment we had about 6 of them and they arent particularly popular due to the lack of publicity.  Personally I have one on my 10.3" SBR and I love the thing.  They are $299, call (801) 437-3899 and ask for Steve Jerman the store manager and he will get you hooked up.  I would do it if I were home, but he will take good care of you and even ship it to you for the cost of the shipping.

best of luck

Here is one on a 12.5" 6.8.  I love it.  Less gas face from a supressor, and much easier to operate with a big NV scope.

If you guys were still looking for the LAR OPS4 uppers I have some bad news.
I spoke with LAR about 10 days ago.  I was looking for another L. Charge upper.
The gunsmith I spoke to said LAR was bought out by Remington Arms in late november.
They no longer sell to the public.
ALL uppers from LAR, and I suppose now from Remington, must go through a FFL.
YES...even though the OPS 4 's don't have serial numbers, you can only get them through a FFL.
Your FFL has to fax or e-mail their FFL to LAR, then the FFL has to pay for it out of their own account.
There is also a 8 week wait for them.

I been waiting it seems like forever for these to come back into stock @ Joe Bob Outfitters.

I hope I have not missed the boat on this upper and it is still available at some point.

DPMS carries the OPS-4 Upper /Carrier assemblies.  Does not show out of stock, just that there may be a 2 to 3 week delay in shipment.  I placed an order for one a couple of days ago and they charged my credit card today.  Not sure when it will really ship.

I ordered the OPS-4 from DPMS tonight...I saw it earlier this evening and was "researching" it and found your note above so hopefully it will be a fairly short wait. Not in a huge hurry but would like to finish my first build. thanks for posting...

Although DPMS's price is a bit higher than LAR's and JoeBob's, LAR is FFL-only direct sales now.  JoeBob is out of stock and no back orders are being accepted.  I considered purchasing another brand of billet-looking upper (Mega or Quentin-Laser) and the carrier directly from Young but together they were going to be more than the DPMS price.  Young now wants $245 for the side charging carriers in either Ni-Bn or hard chrome.  I'm hoping the DPMS wait won't be too extraordinary.

Now they have taken down the largrizzly.com site completely.

I do not see these in the DPMS web store yet.
You guys who ordered them from DPMS, where/how did you order them? Are they still making the billet versions?

I had a wholesale order with LAR for numerous uppers that I placed before they made the change. They had my bus license, resale certificate, tax id etc.  I don't have an FFL but had ordered well over their minimum each time. They called and told me to screw off. It'll be nice when these assholes go back to whining about there not being enough business. There's nothing worse that a supplier getting all fat and happy and treating customers like turds.
