I've got a lower and will start building my new AR as soon as I get the tools and remaining parts collected.

Is there somewhere y'all went for a list of the necessary tools? I've heard a torque wrench is necessary but can't find how may lbs. of torque are necessary so I can't get the correct torque tool.

Any advice on the list and the torque wrench would be appreciated!

Chris

Brownells also has a tool list ,If you want to buy a book I highly recomend the competitive AR 15 builders guide by Glen Zediker, it has a tool list and a lot or pictures. I have a lot of gun books and this has to rank as one of the best. I believe you can get them at Brownells or Midway.

Get the CD "Building Your AR-15 From Scratch".  Takes you through a complete build and the tools needed.  I bought mine on Amazon.

You really don't need a huge list of tools. ARs aren't that complicated. There's a difference between nice to have, and essential.

This book has been helpful.

I also recommend from Brownells:

roll pin holders
roll pin punches
pin pinch set
a brass/nylon hammer
Upper vice block
Barrel nut alignment gauge
ejector removal tool( used remove ejector if checking head space)
Head-space gauges
torque wrench
AR-15/M16 combination wrench
