| doing some prelim research on barrels. Looks like the bushmaster superlight is one of the lightest.is this correct? I'd like to get a 14.5" and pin on a brake. Please let me know who has the lightest. Go! |

Yes. The Bushy Superlight is among the ligtest. The lightest standard (not Carbon-15) production non-SBR option I've found is a 14.5" pencil barrel (I used Daniel Defense's) with a pinned muzzle device. To get lighter, I think you have to go shorter or with a custom profile.
Here's a link to the DD: DD 14.5 Lightweight. I don't remember if I torqued the barrel nut on my current lightweight build. If I haven't I'll try to remember to throw it on the scale next time I'm in the shop. |

What are you planning to use for a handguard?
These are tempting http://www.apcustomusa.com/ar15.html |
| A 14.5" lightweight or pencil barrel (0.625" under the FSB) with a pinned/welded muzzle device would probably be the lightest, without going SBR or custom. Check out DD, BCM, Spikes & PSA for the lightweight barrels. Oh, and an 11" Noveske NSR rail would go along with it nicely too. |
| OP, I think I have a copy of the weight table that used to be maintained by Forest at the Maryland AR15 Shooters sight. I know it has the weight of the Bushy because that's what I used on my first ultralight build. PM me an email address and I can email it to you in Excel format. It's a bit dated, but still a good resource. |

BREECH not Breach breech means the hind part breach means to break through Anyway I have both a BM Superlight and a DD lightweight middy. IIRC, the Bushy had a slightly smaller outside diameter, but the DD was a midlength 14.5. I can't tell the difference between the two with regards to swing (the BM has a longer barrel but the DD has more inertial moment because of the gas block location). carry on! |

I'm glad it's still available. |
