So, I posted about 4 months ago, that I finished my first variant build.
14.5 inch 7.62x39 barrel A2 flash hider ARPerform. Super Bolt DPMS BCG Spikes lower ACS. Mags 30 rnd 10 rnd I took it to the range & began having FTF's(feed), 8 in 20 rnds. The bolt would strip the round, but would bind up out of battery. It took a screwdriver & some force to pull BCG back & eject rnd. The rnds had significant scratches. I was using Monarch (Academy) steel. I posted here about it. I was told to polish the chamber by a friend & you guys said to hold off. Which I am glad. Some of the advice I received here was great. Different ammo- changed to Winchester brass: same result 6.8 mag fix- changed one of my mags: still same result Increased lube: cleaned lubed: same result "7.62x39 in AR's suck...sell!"......almost did do to frustration. I did not want to polish chamber & jack it up. Finally, after some research I found a guy on YouTube having the same problem with his 5.56/.223 AR. He polished the chamber with a chamber brush on a drill. It was still tight but fixed his problem. Before I did that I decided to start small. I took my "dreaded Dremel", used the polishing tip with fine compound & polished the feed ramps. Just a mild polish. Then I tried cycling rnds, 1 FTF(feed) in 10. Polished again.... No FTF's in 80 rnds. Just need to try it at the range. Thanks for all your ideas & options!! I learn something every timei login! You guys Rock! |
