I'm trying to decide on a buffer system for my build in progress, and I'm intrigued by the Vltor A5 system.  Gun is a 16" BCM Socom upper, carbine gas system.  It will be a patrol rifle for work when it gets done.  I'm putting an IMod stock body on whatever buffer tube I decide on.

For those who own or have used the A5 system, is it worth it?  Or should I just get a standard milspec extension with an H or H2 buffer?

you will not be unhappy going with the A5 especially with a carbine gas system. i had an A1 fixed stock on my carbine , really calmed down the recoil impulse, but not handy if you need a diffrent length for alternate shooting positions, so switched to a A5 buffer system, same results much calmer recoil impulse+ adjustable length. ,my suggestion would be to shoot it as much as you can and save for a barrell with a mid-length gas port, combine that with an A5 buffer= really smooth, and controllable on fast pairs
