I'm sure this one will go over like a Lead Balloon....but here it is. I bought a Ruger SR1911 earlier this year. I liked the look and stumbled across some Wood Furniture at the Chantilly VA Gun Show. I decided then and there I would build an AR that matches my Ruger SR1911. Since Ruger released the SR1911 for the 100th Anniversary and Spikes released this receiver set for its 10th anniversary.... I think I did ok on that LOL. And here it is:  My first "Full" build.

For those who "may" be intrested in what is in this build:

Walnut Wood Furniture - Precision Arms Gaithersburg, MD
Spikes Tactical Anniversary NP3 Coated Matched upper/lower Recievers.
Spikes Tactical Nickel Boron BCG
Stag Arms A2 Buffer kit.
Stag Arms LPK.
Black Rain Ordnance .223 Wylde Chambered M4 Slim Profile Barrel Carbine Length 1/8 SS
JP Enterprises SS Adjustable Gas block w/ rail
JP Enterprises SS Compensator
Daniel Defense Burnsed Loop.
Yankee Hill folding combat sights.
DPMS Carbine Gas Tube
Std Barrel nut, Delta Ring assy.

Be warned...  Those JP compensators are LOUD.  Like bleeding ear loud.

ETA:  I kinda like it... shorten the LOP about 3-4" and it would be great.

Not my cup either but Very Nice to combine the Spikes build with the Ruger 1911, they look like a matched set.

Ive thought about the wood furniture.   I definitely like the finish on the receivers over the black with the wood.  It reminds me a little of a Thompson.  I think its cool.

jjjefferson I like it.  It gives the "Black Rifle" some class. Goes well  with your 1911.

I remember seeing a .45 Thumper Upper with a Thompson Grip hung off it at the Chantilly Gun Show back in April.    I thought....throw the wood on that and people would do a double take ;-)

When I went back in June....I couldn't find it ;-(       Maybe it will be back next weekend and I can get some info on it.   ;-)

That looks nice. I t would look absolutely bad assed if the upper and lower receiver was anodized clear or a natural aluminum color.

Looks good.  There's enough room here for wooden furniture.
