Building a second rifle, already have a 16" M4gery type with quad rail, stock upgraded recently to a CTR.
I would like this new rifle to be a 20" 1:7, but other than that I'm not married to any kind of pattern. That being said, I've looked at MOE handguards and free-float tubes but haven't used either so I have no basis for opinion at the time. The rifle will be a run-of-the-mill shooter, general purpose gun. I do plan to put a 1-4x scope of some sort on it - maybe a Burris MTAC. Any opinions on the handguards listed above, or something else you might fancy, would be appreciated. |

I like Daniel Defense because they're solid and lightweight.
LaRue makes good stuff too. I've looked at the FF tubes that allow rail placement only where you need it. I'e got a carbine I may put one on. Haven't decided on which one yet, still checking out weights. |

You would want a flat top receiver for your optics. An A2 stock. Handguard could be Magpul MOE Could be A2 Could be DCM float tube stealthed under and A2 handguard Barrel....20" with your choice of contour. |

For the barrel, I was thinking of something along the lines of BCM's chrome-lined 20" standard barrel - no frills, just a solid part - with a YHM flip-up front sight. I assume the flip-up would still work but would be pointless in that application? |
