I'm going to build my first lower this weekend. My upper and LPK should arrive from UPS this morning.

I've read the FAQ, printed off the parts list to layout my parts.

SAA lower and CavArms C1 stock so I don't need the funky stock wrench.

Stuff I have to complete build:
- vice grips (already used to install magpul trigger guard, worked very well)
- tape (electrical and masking)
- 3/32 punch
- hammer
- ziplock bag for installation of front dentent pin recovery
- leatherman
- 6pk of Abita Amber

Anything else I need? I've watched the videos and feel pretty confident on doing this (looks easy).

Best,

Fin

First, welcome to the build world.

You will need a barrel wrench and upper receiver vice block or barrel vice block unless your upper is already complete.  Other than that you're good to go.  Post pics when you get them.

Oh, I forgot.  You're gonna need more money –– lots more money.  The first one is cheap, but the next ten . . .  This addiction is expensive.  Be sure to add in enough for spousal pay-offs.

I did pretty much the same thing that you did except I had a 6-pk of Nattie Light.  I also left YouTube up and running on my laptop for quick reference vids.  Have fun!

Yeah, I've bought a complete rifle (spikes) and a complete lower.

Figured I'd give it a whirl at building a lower.

My upper is already built, just a lower build this go around.

I will be building a 20" A1 upper here shortly

ETA: What hex driver do I need for the little magpul screw (trigger guard?) I've pressed the pin in, but don't have a driver that will work for the screw (what i have is too small)

This is very helpful (ETA: The youtube part, not the beer part, although that makes it more fun).  Sometimes the visual reference was much better than written instructions.

That was one if the easiest things I've ever done.

Painting stock black tomorrow.
