I'm going to build a couple lowers. I've already selected cmmg lpk and Magpul CTR stocks, need some advice on buffer tubes. Mil-spec.

If I were getting a (more correctly known as) receiver extension today, I'd get a LaRue.

I would just buy the CTR as a kit from PSA or DSG and choose mil-spec.
Done.

If you're a warfighter and might use your stock as weapon, you could hunt down a Colt or LMT RE.

Curious, what's the allure with the CMMG LPK ?

I went with BCM receiver extension kits for all my lower builds.. Good consistent quality, fair price and ships fast.

I asked here and cmmg was reported as gtg. Good price of $53.58. Do you have other ideas?

While I would normally also recommend Larue, I saw a thread today of a guy who ordered one almost two months ago and just got it today.

Aim has Spikes tubes in stock and ready to ship for $34.

And CMMG parts kits are ok. I've used one in the past. Its what PSA was using for their lower build kits before they started sourcing their own parts.

I'm going to use the PWS tube on an upcoming build

The extruded one can be had for ~$70

The Billet one is $150

I have a Spikes tube and it's fine.

I also just got a PWS tube that I love.  No more castle nuts for me lol. But I may be alone in feeling that way...

Nothing wrong with it, but nothing special either. Your price is fair.
I used a DD LPK and got a damn good USGI trigger with it, as has been reported.
$20 more for the DD LPK.
You should look over the PSA LPK offerings. They have the largest selection of LPK's anywhere and their prices are hard to beat.

Good luck with the build.

I use these depending on if it's a fun or defensive build, and they are called receiver extensions.

LMT, Colt or BCM are the best that I've used.

This. ^

I had used two BCM RE and I have a DSA that I have for a future plinker build.

My BCM are definitely have slightly bigger outer diameter than my DSA, and others like Colt, LMT, and Vltor, it fits nice and snug on my Magpul CTR and other Colt/ LMT M4 buttstocks.

If you want a better looking finish and position numbers, except they're 5 positions only take a look at Vltor.

I like the Spike's recommend, my 2 "store bought" carbines are from Spike's.

I've been real happy with the Spike's. I have them on all of my ARs now.

As someone stated above, AIM has them in stock right now. I just picked one up to keep as a spare.
