Does anyone here have experience with DS Arms uppers? I know they probably make the best FAL's one can buy, but they seem relatively new to the AR market. Their prices are very competitive so I just bought a fluted middy for 265. I've only found one detailed review online (which was a good review) but I wanted to know what you guys think.
Here is what I bought: http://www.dsarms.com/DSA-ZM4-A3-Upper-Receiver-16-Barrel-Mid-Length-HG––-DSZM4CBUMID/productinfo/DSZM4CBUMID/ I think they are so cheap because they literally manufacture every piece in house. Will post a detailed review when it arrives in 2 weeks if you guys want. |

The quality is fine it's the continuous backorder status.... One week turns into two, which turns into six weeks, which turns into three months.
Communication is not their strong suit. Getting your upper is not the problem but a voice or an e-mail response is total fail. |

They do need help with their customer service and shipping, but I just drive over and get what I need. |

When they first started making and selling AR parts, there was a thread about their uppers that hit 80 pages or so.
I had one of their EARLY uppers that had the "melded" feedramps (ie they dremeled the feedramps in the uppers), but besides that, it was a good shooter. I don't have it anymore, but it was fine for what it was.

| I've got one it shoots ok, but it isnt meant to be a tack driver either. I can tap the targets at 100 yards and 200 yards on the range without too much extra effort. probably only have a little over 250 rounds through it though. but for the money I have not had any problems to date. If I were looking to buy again, I would certainly give it strong consideration. |

I have the DSA midlength. If they contact you soon to say your upper is on backorder, call them and ask what they have in stock. They may have something similar that they can ship. In the end my customer service experience was very good.
Once I found an upper they had in stock, they had it in my hands 3 days later. (I'm sure backorder is a bitch) I really like it. It looks to be built flawlessly. At the range the other day it functioned flawlessly. I stuck to the 50 yard range so I can't say much about accuracy, but it seemed to be very accurate. The handguards are ugly as hell, but I don't count that as an item that effects quality. I think you will be very happy with it. |

I just cancelled my order for a complete upper with them because of the backorder status.
I went with a Dissapator upper from ar15.com. It looks like they have a good product. Time will tell... Oh, by the way, They have the parts in stock, so I won't be waiting til sometime in March.... |
