New to AR's (shootingM16's in the Corps doesn't count!), and thru all of my searches for info, AR15.com kept coming up for some reason!  After I started looking around here I realized there's a HUGE knowledge base here...  go figure!

My build is gonna be on a budget, so it will seem like forever before I'm at the range w/this new toy... but it will be worth it.  Took the wife to the local indoor last night for her first time with my .308 and 12ga and she also got to shoot her very first AR...  WHICH SHE LOVED!  She's pretty good too...  shot 1.75" groupings and almost cloverleafed 2 rds w/the .308.  I'd like to take partial credit for zero-ing the rifle properly, but...  LoL.

OK, back to why I'm here...

I'm starting with a TI T15 forged stripped lower...  a few things played into this decision...

1.  Price:  $112 shipped...  like I said, I'm on a budget.  I'd love to have a Noveske, but after comparing the materials they're made out of, I don't see too much difference between them besides the obvious roll marks and price tag.  Both are made from 7075 T6 aircraft AL (stronger than 6061 and more easily machined), both have the magwells wire EDM-ed, both have laser engraved markings...  I'm a machinist by trade (manuf eng tech right now), so things like that stick out to me whereas others may just see the rollmarks and customer raves/reviews.

2.  Availability:  Unfortunately...  I live in a state (CT) which is pretty harsh on law abiding citizens looking to purchase/build an AW...  this in turn means a LOT of manufacturers and middlemen won't even ship here.

3.  Looks:  The TI slr has NO ROLLMARKS!  All that's on the receiver is "T15 CAL: MULTI" and a s/n.  Again, you're paying for the Noveske, Stag, Colt, DPMS rollmark.  This played into price a little bit.

I don't know for sure about other brands, but TI lowers come standard with the upper receiver tensioning screw and rear pin detent screw, so...

Wish I had some pics to go along with this rant of a first post, but again I live in CT...  I have to wait til Feb 23rd (2 week wait restriction) to go pick up the first pc to my puzzle, and it's probably alread at my local FFL.  Grr.
