I'm starting my first build and already started ordering parts. But since im left handed what would work well other then an ambi safety? Do I need an ambi charging Handel or is that unnecessary? Any ideas are welcome.

There are ambi safeties, charging handles, mag releases and bolt releases. not sure that you need all that stuff.

I know that rock river is coming out with a complete lefty AR,  upper receiver is switched ane evertything. I don't know if it'll be possibel to get the parts though.  something to check out, even has a barel with the rifling going the opposite direction.

Thanks I did not know about the bolt release and the mag release and will look in to them. I also came across a left handed stripped upper with eveything on the left side but decided I can live with a right side fowered assist and ejection port.

Stag sells lefty rifles, I think they are unnecessary but they are out there. The son of the owner of CMT started Stag and I think he said he's lefty.

Wow even the rifling,  thats going a bit far isn't it? What would be the reason for that?

I am also a fellow satan-hander . . . I have a Battle Arms ambi-safety, Troy ambi mag release, and tactical link bad lever.  The safety and mag release are nice to have, but I could probably do without the bad lever although it is handy.

You don't need a Lefty receiver.  I sold mine, and went back to a right handed one.  Think about it, right handed AR's are made for lefties.  You can keep the weapon shouldered and still see in the chamber when empty, or with a malfunction.  What makes them Lefty friendly is a Bad-Ass Selector, Norgon ambi-catch, and if they ever start shipping again, the Left Hand Tactical Charging Handle by Badger Ordnance.  Left hand can stay on fire control, weapon stays shouldered, and no weird over the top or reaching under crap to operate CH.

Troy is supposed to be coming out with an ambi charging handle. They also have an ambi safety and mag release but I have not installed them yet

I am a left as well, the Grip and Safety alone was a huge upgrade on my rightly upper, next is the magpul BAD lever and a charging handle, then i will do a mag drop.

I just built a 20" lefty upper and I am in the process of ordering an ambi selector and grip, But as far as the ejection of the shells go i really don't notice the difference, the people to my left at the range on the other hand.. getting brass flung at them from both sides

Ya I'm sure that would not make me happy getting hot brass from both sides. And thanks for all the help every one.

I'm a righty shooter but also practice shooting my opposite side so my most used AR are equipped with this:

Norgon ambi mag catch
Magpul BAD lever
LMT ambi selector
ArmaDynamics ACLM ambi charging handle

The only component I'll be changing is my ambi charging handle probably either with the new Troy or new Parabellum Armament-ArmaDynamics ambi CH.

The ArmaDynamics CH is not a truly ambi in one condition, if the bolt is not at the breech and is partly towards the rear or all the way to the rear, the right side of the CH cannot be unlocked from the upper receiver, the release lever at the left side have to be pushed by your right finger going over the top of the handle.

Even with all these ambi controls don't forget to practice as if you have a basic AR like reaching with your hand the opposite side or tilting the receiver the best direction to efficiently complete your task.

I would recommend you try it one component at a time like, selector first, then mag catch, then CH, and so on, it's a trial and error thing for most of us but we just settle on what we prefer that works the best for us.

As a lefty who has used ARs since '72 (OK, I was a late bloomer) I find that the only truly desirable part is an ambi selector.  Everything else is just a waste of $ and needless window dressing.  That may sound harsh, but having used the AR for 40 years now, it is reality.  With 12 in the safe, the only one that doesn't wear an ambi safety is my origional '75 Colt SP1.  Everything else is RH as designed.

From this and other things I've read I plan to stay away from lefty parts and just go ambi.

Oh, you goofy-handed guys are bananas! Is it true that all the rifling is reversed in Australia?
