Mid build on AR, so far have Aero Upper and lower with m4 collapsible buttstock. currently working on finishing up barrel and handguards as well as gas system.

Received a 20" bull barrel from Red X and now find myself questioning my choices. Holy crap is this heavy... Haven't put handguard on yet but really feels like
somebody hung a gallon jug of milk off the end of the barrel when holding.

I'm probably going to switch out to an A2 buttstock but is there anything I can do to move the center of balance back a little bit, really feeling about this one right now.

(wanted it for light hunting duty)

Good plan to go to the A2 stock.
There are weights that fit into the A2 stocks that the DCM/CMP competitors use to solve your issue.
It won't make it any lighter though.

Search on a2 stock weight wedge and you'll get a bunch of hits.

Magpul UBR is heavy and hard on the wallet, but moves the point of balance to the rear.  i had the same issue with this build and the can.  point of balance with the can is just forward of the magwell.

Albert,
This will take some searching on your side.  87GN did an in debt post on this in the past.

Someone will come along and answer this, for you.  So don't bother searching

you can send your bull barrel to ADCO and have them flute the barrel... that will help with some of the weight off the barrel, and with the A2 stock and some sort of optics on the mid point of the flat top reciever (i would think) should help balance out the rifle...

There used to be a point where I found balance beneficial, but now I much prefer the gun to be as mobile as possible.

Bull barrels are only good for high volumes of fire, to me anyway.

Get that sucker contoured to .650 behind the gas block and fluted forward. Light duty hunting?

A Troy TRX 13 and low profile gas block or a Daniel Defense MFR 12 to keep the weight off.
