So I was looking at the stand in the AR-15.COM store, and thought "Man, I would love one of those... but I don't really have fifty bucks to burn right now."
What I do have however is some good ol' fashioned ingenuity to go along with my two-by-four scrap, hacksaw, palm sander and can of black spray paint.... Please pardon the (cellphone) picture quality. http://i384.photobucket.com/albums/oo290/jimmyooooo/ebay/IMG_0026.jpg http://i384.photobucket.com/albums/oo290/jimmyooooo/ebay/IMG_0024.jpg http://i384.photobucket.com/albums/oo290/jimmyooooo/ebay/IMG_0027.jpg Also thought I'd share a pic I took with my "real camera" the other night while I was doing some macro stuff. Tags were my Grandfathers who served in WWII. I'll probably keep an eye out for an appropriate era weapon to redo this picture with eventually. http://i384.photobucket.com/albums/oo290/jimmyooooo/ebay/DSC_2444.jpg |

Plastix makes a vice block and a block with a base plate. They are around $18-22. This will save time for making a stand. They also make some sweet multiple display stands. Even if you don't buy from them, go to their website and get some ideas. I think they make the one that is in the arf store. pptexas dot com Midway sells a similar stand on a tray/base. |
