I just wanted to make sure I had all the tools to do this correctly. It is going to be an A4 clone with the Knights Armament RAS rail. I ordered the upper receiver action block, a DPMS Armorer's tool, and I will probably just go to a hardware store for whatever punches I need. Is there anything I will need that will make this smoother? I was told by the seller of the rail that no fancy proprietary tools are required for the KAC rail, but does anybody have any experience with this rail?

Yea all you need is an allen wrench.  It assembles almost exactly the same as your standard handguards.  There's a small tab on the front that goes under the handguard cap.  And a small tab in the back that goes under the delta ring.  Slide it in and tighten the allen screw, drop in the bottom and you're all set.

The directions I gave are for a carbine length rail.  Not sure if a rifle length is different?  I don't see why you would need any of the tools you listed for this particular project, but they're great to have around once you start to dig in a bit more.

That is the one that I have. It is a free-floating rail.

Disregard my instructions.  I have no idea how that rail installs.

I just installed one last weekend, you don't need any tools other than the armor's wrench. Install your and barrel with the provided barrel nut using the shims to align gas tube hole while maintaining the required torque. Make sure you have the threaded barrel nut cover behind the barrel nut. Then insert the 2 pins in the 3 & 9 O'clock positions in the barrel nut. Slide rail down over the barrel so the pins align with the holes in the rail and then tighten down the barrel nut cover and it will pull the rail securely onto the pins. Use a strap wrench to tighten down without scaring it.

Thanks,

You'll need whatever punches to remove the FSB and then be prepared to keep screwing with the torque on the barrel nut until the rail clocks perfectly, just to end up looking at it all the time because you still have your doubts, then repeat with the FSB.  Personally I'd save that rail for a MK12 mod 1 clone though.

This is a LaRue rail, but same basic procedure
