Hey everyone, I was looking to get an upper from BCM:

http://www.bravocompanyusa.com/BCM-BFH-16-Mid-Length-Upper-Receiver-Group-p/bcm-urg-mid-16%20bfh.htm

I was wondering, in the future I wanted to make it a flat top without a FSP (once I save up some cash for a eotech or aimpoint).  Is it difficult to change a FSP out and put in a low profile gas block?  What tools would I need?  Any and all help is greatly appreciated!  Thankyou!

Worst part is removing the damn taper pins from the FSB.  You will need a good support for the FSB to lay on, a ball peen hammer, and a brass punch.  And the will to whack it pretty good to loosen the pins.

There is, somewhere in this section, a tutorial about all that. Might even be a thread; search for it.

No, the worst part is when you cut the FSB and then decide you Eff'd up and want it back.

It's on the BCM site in the industry forum.  I'd provide the link if I could search for it

Dremel the FSB off.  Since they are mated to the barrel and drilled on a jig, they are almost never reusable.  If you do attempt to get the pins out, use a real taper pin starter so you don't flatten the heads out and frustrate yourself.

I like grinding mine off with an angle grinder to fit under a TRX or quad rail setup anyway.

Keep the original FSB.  They are typically unique to the barrel and finding a replacement is near impossible unless you are willing to drill your own.

You don't need to switch out the FSB when using a red dot sight in the first place.
