Anybody else have to chop off a little of the pivot pin spring in order to install the spring & detent?

I don't have a receiver end plate for the lower yet, but I'm thinking I'll have to do the same for the take down spring too, just by the way it looks when I set the spring & detent in.

Not a big issue, was just curious if anybody else has run into that with their lower.

I'm using extra parts from my spare/replacement parts box to complete a LPK, not a PSA LPK. All the parts are RRA.

Because RRA uses spiral cut pins I only use their LPK's now. The last PSA LPK I did with a PSA lower installed fine without modification, but the safety selector was sloppy.

I do this on all my builds. Easier to install and easier to work the pins later.

I did not notice the OP's issue with mine. I have only used RRA LPK's and I just used my first hogue grip and the safety detent spring seems tighter than I'm used to. But I think that is a grip/spring issue not the lower. I might trim it later and see how it goes. As for the OP's problem, my guess its a LPK issue and not the lower.

Mine went together flawlessly.

Both of mine went together without any mods needed.  I assembled one with an RRA LPK and one with a PSA LPK.  As info, I did not use a set screw for the rear takedown.  Did you use a set screw?  If you did, I read a few posts here where shortening the spring was necessary with the screw.

This might be a stupid question, but are you 100% positive that you are using the right spring?

I have not installed the take down pin yet cause I lack the end plate & castle nut for my buffer tube still. It is the pivot pin spring that I had to cut down.

OFF TOPIC here but what size allen head wrench would you need for a set screw in the take down spring pin hole? I have a Denny's Guns lower receiver that has that set screw in the hole & cannot find the right size in my toolbox. I called Denny's & he told me 1/16" so I went to buy one & it was wrong. I'd rather not take my lower or make many trips to True Value to get the right size. Thanks.

It happened to me on 2 out of a lot of 10 Aero's I put together. The hole was for the front pivot detent not drilled as deep as deep as it should have been. Just driled it to the correct depth, 2 minute fix and nothing to worry about.

Yes....I screwed with it for a while until I realized the spring was bottomed out....Clipped it and it went together easily.....and YES...it was the correct spring

Before I realized the hole was not drilled deep enough I sent the spring & detent flying across the room a couple times. Found both of them right away both times by listening to the sound of what they bounced off of. I use a clevis pin to put them in all my lowers & have never had any install issues using it til this one, but like you I just clipped a couple coils off & it went in just fine with the clevis pin.

I'm starting to play with these things more often now (code for becoming addicted). I don't have a clevis pin, but I have used one when I took the Colt AR-15 Armorers Course several years ago...May need to just invest in one....makes it a bit easier to install that sucker!

They do make it easier. I got one from ACE Hardware for under a buck, sure beats the $5 (or however much) + shipping price of the ones advertised on the internet.

It is milled out a little shallow.  Mine safety is tight as hell.
