hey there new guy here looking to get into the ar easy on the first time. been doing a lot of reading for the past few months here, lots of good info...
i do my own work on my sporting arms. so any opinions on model1 sales kits. latter on i will build one from the ground up. looking at the complete carbine 5.56 less reciever, 1/8 twist, removable nm handle, nm fsb, rails w/ foreward grip, chrome bcg, stand. trigger, m-4 stock. looking for an urban job/ rangegun, nothing spectacular red dot down the road. |

How much is the kit?
The specs look good. Do you really need a chrome coated BCG? I would check Model 1 Sales' wait times. I would compare that kit to PSA, Del-ton, etc. Have you got the tools? Vise block, barrel wrench, mag block, castle nut wrench? Welcome to the sickness. I owned one for a 1-1/2 years. Jan of this year i built my first. I've built 3 more since. |

Have you got the tools? Vise block, barrel wrench, mag block, castle nut wrench? I think the kit comes as a complete upper and you just assemble the lower. So you really wont need barrel wrench and vice block. You could benefit from the mag block and the castle nut wrench but they really aren't necessary either(i use the 1/8" pin punch to set the nut down), but good to have (i've assembled a bunch of lowers without them). I've been looking at a model 1 sales upper too for a while and am interested as to other opinions as well. They're the only ones i know of that make a xm177 style upper that i'm looking for. But from reviews at other places, model 1 sales have been mixed. As opposed to PSA and delton who generally have a high number of positive reviews. So i'm tagging this to hear what others have to say. |
