can i get this barrel....BCM Standard 14.5" LIGHT WEIGHT Barrel, Stripped.
or does it make my rifle an nfa sbr and is that barrel a good choice for spikes upper and lower. what about headspace???? should i be worried thanks for any help |

a barrel less than 16 inches requires NFA unless mounted on a pistol lower reciever. if you want a 14.5 inch barrel without NFA paperwork, you need to have a 1.5 inch flash hider permanentally attached to the barrel (silver solder or welding a blind pin are the 2 methods approved for doing so by the ATF).
sure, why would a barrel be a bad choice for an upper or lower? parts on these guns are interchangable. the intended use for the rifle would determine more if the barrel is a "good choice" and not who manufactured the upper or lower reciever. you should always check the headspace on a build...unless you dont value your eyesight. |

Pardon my ignorance, but can you purchase an NFA restricted upper and have it immediately delivered, or does the paper work / waiting period have to occur first? The upper is not actually a controlled item - that requires both an upper and a lower. Its perfectly legal to purchase such an upper with no paperwork to assemble a pistol. You cannot possess such an upper legally if you also own a non-pistol, non-SBR registered lower, and dont have a pistol or SBR to mount it on. Rule of thumb is you have to have a legal way to assemble all the pieces in your possession to avoid the chance of a constructive possession charge. |
