Hello all! I am looking at piecing together my first AR and so far this is what I have come up with as a parts list:

Lower:
PSA or Surplus Arms & Ammo Stripped Lower
PSA MOE Stock Kit
PSA Gen 2 MOE LPK

Upper: (what I need some input on)
Stag Arms Model 2HT ?

I am looking for a complete gas upper in the range of $600-$800. This AR will be mainly used on the 300m range and of course for any zombie invasions. If I missed or overlooked anything please let me know. Thanks!

I wouldn't go with the MOE stock. Go CTR, if you don't - you'll kick yourself in the ass later.

I personally wouldn't choose a $699 Stag.
I'd check PK - and pick a Daniel Defense upper, with Daniel Defense rail for $650-$750 - that has a 1:7 twist so you can shoot heavier grain bullets at the 330 yard ddistance you plan on shooting.

That's my opinion.

After doing some more research it seems like BCM makes some high quality complete uppers as well although they are at the upper end of my price range. Specifically looking at this

Uppers are easy to build cheap if you know what you are doing. You can also get a decent barrel with a Wylde or Match Chamber for around 200-400. (Chrome Moly is better than 416SS IMO).
