While waiting on the DEL-TON barrel and all the other parts to ship to complete #1. I ordered a barrel from Midway (Carbine 16") and a YHM diamond free float forearm Specter length.
Put her together in about 2 hour. I need a YHM Jam Nut Wrench, so the barrel is sort of staged, and it doesn't have the gas tube installed - Just hand tight to check the fit. The white stuff is some Moly Grease squeeze out. I also staged my scope from my purchased rifle. However, the MBUS sights are full install. Neat build, and really light weight - Can't wait to shoot it. I understand the carbines are a little jumpy compared to the mid-length - I'll let you know. I really dig the feel of the Magpul angled foregrip...Just need some QD connectors and a sling. Thinking about a single point tactical sling. We'll see. ETA: I almost forgot...I chopped up a A2 FSB for a low profile block like the tutorial...Simple, easy, and need some paint. What are people using to paint these things? |
That's a nice looking build you got there.

Yeah, I'm starting to like the foliage green. I wanted OD green, but PSA fell short with a backorder on those. Meanwhile they shorted me a charging handle too. I got a package today, and it had an AIM Armorer's Wrench - Not a charging handle. Sooner or later, they have to get it right. I really dig this build more than the standard MOE build I did before. I have one more MOE build, and then I may build a varmint or a mid length free float.
Anyway, I guess I short changed everyone from the build vitals (sort of a value build): Surplus Lower Aero Precision Upper PSA BCG w/ Charge Handle (actually no charge handle since they didn't ship it) PSA LPK w/ MOE stock YHM Diamond Specter handguard Magpul Angled Foregrip Magpul MBUS Low Profile Gas Block - A2 modified by cutting down KNS non-rotating pins (not in picture...Knocked them in tonight - I just like them) Model 1 - 16" heavy barrel w/ M4 feed ramps Std A2 flash hider I got some good DTM high temp paint for the low profile gas block. Looks super. Now, I need to find a QD that will mount on the short front end. Searching, searching, searching. Yeah, these things are easy and FUN! Rob |
