I need everyone's opinion about this receiver extension. This tube has not been installed, just taken out of the box. I have contacted the business that I ordered it from and they have sent a Return Authorization. In the email containing the RA was a comment that I found offensive. " even the best tubes on the market arent good enough for some people, please set him an RMA..."

Am I wrong in thinking that this buffer tube is not made correctly. The shoulder that engages the buffer retainer is off center. The paint is only the threads and is flaking off. When compared to my other receiver extensions this one looks like a commercial tube to me. If I only paid $20 for it I would not be as upset, I paid $45 for "the best on the market"

best in the market.... that doesn't look right.   If I got a reply from X company like that on a RMA i would never do business with them again.  It should never be an inconvenience for a vendor to fix something you feel is wrong.  They should be ashamed of themselves.  I just hope it isn't one of the vendors listed above.  That would be very dissapointing

It's LMT, and they make that shoulder off center on purpose.  It's actually kind of nifty the way it not only retains the buffer retainer, and keeps the tube from rotating while you tigthen the lock nut down.  The "paint" that is flaking off is the dry lube they put on the exterior of the tube on top of it's anodized finish to help the stock body slide smoother.  But you knew this already, right?

I wonder why LMT didn't explain this to the OP.

I guess the "best isn't good enough for some people"

Yeah... that does look like the LMT gray that I've seen.  The dry lube will rub off some.  I think you're good with this RE.

Well, for one we don't know he ordered it directly from LMT or from a vendor, but we also don't know how he acted in his communications to them either.  Depending on his attitude, it's possible whoever he was in contact with just decided it wasn't worth the time and energy to set him straight, or they tried to but he wouldn't listen and was convinced (like he was in his OP) that it was defective, or the CS rep is just an a-hole.

I explained my concerns in the original email to *****. The only reply I received back from them was the quote that is posted above. I was not, or had any intention of being rude, I only explained that I did not think that the product I got was GTG.  I did not know that this is the way that LMT made their buffer tubes. If LMT makes them this way for a reason I stand corrected, I don't know everything or claim to, but I have never seen anything like this. If **** had replied with LMT makes them that way because........... instead of "the best isn't good enough" I am sure we would not be here.

Fair enough, that CS rep failed you then.

Yep, I agree with the guys here, it looks like a LMT buffer tube like mine.

I would like to also add, notice the three drain/ vent holes at the the rearmost position holes at the bottom which is common with LMT, the price is also the same as the LMT.

Out of my favorite top three buffer tubes, that's one of them, the others are Vltor and BCM.

Take a look at the picture and price from one of an AR15.com sponsor.

After hearing your experience I am disinclined to purchase ANY of LMT's products. Attitude is one thing I will not tolerate. I would forward that email to someone higher up the food chain at LMT too.

I don't think it was LMT that treated him crappy. It was the vendor that sold it to him? At least that's what I got from reading.

Just to clarify this buffer tube was NOT purchased directly from LMT. I don't want to disclose the vendor but they are known here. I thought that the buffer tube I received was not made correctly, I was wrong. I still wish that the vendor would have at least tried to educate me. They did send me an RA and I guess I should be happy about that, but I am not happy about the attitude. Guess I need to change my expectations.

OK for me it makes sense.   I would want my vendors to maybe say hey give me a call and we will fix this for you.    It would have been a easy explanation and everyone would be happy and the op would be saying X company did them right.  Its nice to know that he got a good product.  i didn't know myself that LMT tubes ship that way... I would be wondering as well.  Simple communication would have fixed this.... I don't understand some CS folks.  If the OP was a butthead (and I am not saying he was in any way) then the company could chime in and say hey we explained its how they ship and he still wasnt satisfied.  So it would be a win-win situation

Sounds more like the OP got just what he ordered and did not know what he ordered.

kind of reminds me of the Missouri cast bullet FAQ.
"What if I thought I was ordering cartridges instead of bullets and was surprised to find that the bullets I ordered are bullets and not ammunition?
It is possible that you are an idiot who 1.) Doesn't pay very close attention to detail when he orders things and/or 2.) Thinks that the descriptions and photographs of our bullets are actually very cleverly disguised descriptions and photographs of cartridges.  If one or both of these is true, it is likely that you shouldn't be handling explosive materiel. "
