DD is always an outstanding choice but YHM isn't bad if you're on a tight budget. Most folks who own their gear don't complain much about them. Enjoy the build.

I have installed 2 YHM lightweight qua-rails and one tube.  All went on without a hitch are were rock solid.  That said, for a little more, I like the Midwest Industries T-series rail much better.

Op...just for shits and giggles, for a little extra coin you can get a spikes tactical BAR rail which is self aligning and Badass looking

Here is mine.

I think YHM has better quality for-ends than Mid west Industries T series. Mid west are good and all but the finish they use is somewhat lacking               (reminds me of cheap easily scratched anodizing on a set of cheapo $15 wal-mart scope rings). I ordered a MI T-series rail in carbine length from BCM for an M4(ish) build I was doing. When I opened it I was very happy the the look of the rail but mounting it was a different story. It left about a 1/2" gap between the rail and the front sight, even with a hand guard cap on it left a sizable gap. Not happy with the sloppy non fitted look, I returned it to BCM the next day and ordered a YHM 4rail carbine tube(not the light-weight).

I was VERY happy with the fit of YHMs rail. YHM makes their rails the gas system length spec. meaning that the end of the hand guard will come up flush with the gas block shoulder, so NO GAP. I've since then ordered two others from YHM, a specter length diamond and a rifle length diamond. And I'm even happier still with those.

YHM stuff is solid.  Heavy duty stuff. and affordable.

With that said i feel they are a bit heavy... and got some sharp ass edges compared to some manufacturers rails.

I wouldn't say they're that bad as far as all their products go, but don't buy this:

the only thing I don't like about those YHM sight bases is the sight is not spring loaded. I have a set ofYHMs QDS (quick deploy sight)  BUIS on my YHM Black diamond specter and they are A1+++

I just rebuilt my m&p 15x with a YHM diamond free float, lo pro gas block, and 5c2 flash suppressor. Solid nice stuff. No complaints. Here's some pictures:

It's a yhm 16" chrome lined 1/7 twist carbine gas length:-).  Finish is very nice but I do wish it was "more black" to match the rest of the gun.

Keep in mind that there is a light coating of oil on it which reflects light differently....it is an odd color park but it looks more grey in the pic than it really is.

You should be happy with the YHM stuff.  I was.  Used it on one of the guns I gave a little "face lift" to...

I'm hijacking this thread a bit. I'm looking to build ether a 14.5 or IN middy build and i want the free float rail to cover the gas block with the free float rail and to leave only a little bit of the barrel showing. could i achieve this with the YHM diamond rail but buying it in a rifle lengh? there website doesn't say how long they, but as a poster above has said they design there rails to buy up right behind the gas block/front sight post.

rifle length is good to go. i put the specter length on my carbine and it covers nicely.

My first build had a rifle length rail over a 16" carbine gassed barrel with a lo-pro gas block.  Looked pretty bad ass.

Not from personal experience, but I have heard that MI stuff is no good. Out of spec of something, I am sure a google search will give you more information.

I have installed a FF Tube from them, their new stuff is really nice. My buddy wanted a nice target rifle, but didnt want to spend the money on the tube, in the end 90% of his rifle came from YHM, good stuff. But would agree the DD and the Spikes are better. But in the DD case, are they 2.5 or 3 X better, IDK.

You should be pleased with the YHM rail...  I have used it before on past builds and it was great.  Make sure to post pics when the UPS guy gets there.
