Newbie question here. I'm going to be getting my first AR delivered soon and one of the first things I'll be doing is replacing the handguards with the VTAC TRX Extreme:
I'm going to be installing the 13" handguard on my 16" barrel and using flip-up front sights. I want my sling to be mounted toward the rear of the handguard. What is my best sling mount option? Should I just put a small rail on the rear portion and attach a rail mounted sling swivel, like this one? 
Any other insights or advice? Thanks! |

iF THE SLOT SIZE IS THE SAME AS JP/VTAC
YOU CAN USE ONE OF THESE JP QUICK DETACH SLING STUD WITH BACKER

IMO direct mounting is the way to go on the Troy TRX-E and VTAC Extreme rails.
If you're thinking QD, the IWC Mount-N-Slot mount is great::
