Hey guys, New to the site. I have always been into AR15's but never really set out to build my own. I am still learning the ropes and the basics, been browsing the site for awhile. I came up with these for my first AR15 rifle.

Spike's Tactical 16" Midlength LE Upper w/9" BAR Rail
Spike's Tactical Complete Lower (Custom Built)
MOE Carbine Stock
MIAD Grip

Seems pretty basic, please tell me if you have any recommended changes or if I am missing out on anything.
Thanks!

Was thinking of an Aimpoint CompM3 for the optic, SKD has them for 562.

Welcome to the boards.

A good mindset to have when building your first AR15 is to understand you WILL inevitably change and swap out components. Upgrades will be made; items that you don't like (aesthetically or functionally) will be removed. Even your perceived use for the AR15 might change over time.

That said, it looks like you're off to a good start. Starting with a kit build like the one you've got from Spike's will lessen your chances of screwing up on component mismatches, stacking tolerances, etc. Check the pictures thread stickied at the top of the forum and look at other people's rifles for inspiration if you still have questions.

You'll need a sling, magazines, and ammo.

The chamber of the upper is designed for a 5.56, will I have any trouble also shooting a .233?

EDIT:

I was also thinking of making a different change, finding a complete upper 16' barrel without the front sight. I want to get the DD M4A1 RIS II and have the flip-up sight in front and rear.
Any ideas on where to find a upper like that? I am new, so I am still figuring out all the places to buy from are.

Okay so, I know I want the M4A1 RIS II with a 16' barrel. Would it be easier to buy all that separately, (upper receiver, barrel, gas block, gas tube) or try to find it in a package? If I was going to buy separate, which barrel brand would you recommend. Sorry for asking alot of questions, I am still getting into this.

Did you check out the SMARTGUNNER deal?  This is probably the best deal to get that rail and have it all assembled for you.

Not an RIS or the stock I would want either.

If you're going to be assembling the lower yourself, go with a roll pin-less design like the Quentin Defense QD15. No roll pins = easy install and less scratches. If you're buying an assembled lower, no worries. As for the upper, do your research, but I would go inexpensive as you're definitely going to change your mind.... A lot, before this is done.
