I'm going to start building a M4gery here in alittle bit. I'm pretty much trying to get the best or at least the of the line in whatever parts I get for my rifle.

So, what are the really good quality lower receiver parts kits out there?

Blackthorne or Hesse are best.

Stay away from Hesse...

Lower parts kits are about the same between name brand companies. I have used the following: Stag, Rock River, Bushmaster, Daniel Defense, DPMS, Doublestar and Spikes. All were in spec and went in fine (DPMS had the tightest roll pins). Just go with whatever name brand you can find at a decent price.

LOL. I've just decided on DD. Sure, it's probably not any better than stag or RRA, but I've look in other threads and most seem to prefer DD or RRA

I've used multiples of the following: Sherluck, DPMS, RRA, Armalite, and Stag.

MY preference is RRA or Armalite. Reason being that the rollpins are SPIRAL making installing them easier (they slide in like a hot knife in butter) with less chance of busting a trigger ear or pounding so hard you slip and mar the side of your receiver.

Seriously, if you have ever used spiral roll pins on builds you will never want to go back to the other style.

I put an order in with RRA sometime ago and added 10 of their spiral rollpins to use with LPK's that don't use them.

Daniel Defense is the best LPK i've used, hands down. you will be very happy

If you have a drawer full of A2 pistol grips, M&A makes a nice kit without a pistol grip. They use notched hammers. Blackthorne like R-Guns uses DPMS LPK's

I know, right.  They are so sought after that they are very hard to find.  Olympic is another great one if you can find it.

I've used a bunch. Now I stick to RRA for the roll pins. And I've been burned with cheap kits.

I'm pretty sure he was trolling you with Blackthorne/Hesse (Vulcan).

I like Double Star / J&T. The triggers feel cleaner out of the box compared to RRA and DPMS but they also come with extra detents and springs if you get clumsy and launch one.

Also, Palmetto State Armory has a sale on LPK's right now. Starting @ $45.

I ordered the spikes enhanced lower parts kit. ($150) I have been more then happy with the choice. The upgraded pistol grip is extremely comfortable, enhanced Nib trigger is very smooth, kns anti walk pins, enhanced trigger guard are also included. Best bang for the buck and high quality as far as I have noticed. Just my .02

i haven't written in this thread because there are about a billion threads asking this same question.

and also because of the trolling in this thread.

anyone who said jokingly vulcan/hesse/blackthorne should be warned by a mod.  This is supposed to be a serious technical forum.. not a place to just make sarcastic remarks.

I recently finished 4 builds.  3 LPKs were the RRA w/ NM 2 stage trigger.  The other was from Palmetto Armory.  Both are good.  I do like the roll pins with the RRA one.  My first build was an Anvil Arms LPK.

i loved Anvil Arms, but their LPK was just another re-badged DPMS, with all the classic DPMS goodness, HORRIBLE trigger, oversized split roll pins, bolt catch that had to be dremeled. i wish we could get a tacked LPK thread.

Get the Palmetto State Armory MOE kit. I just installed one. Can't beat the price and it includes a MOE grip and trigger gaurd.

the DD kit i got had split/c type roll pins, BUT they actually slide in as easily as the spiral lock roll pins like Stag/CMT, Rock River, J&T use. i was skepital at first because all the c type pins i've installed so far seem to be hard to install or make a grinding noise when installed. the DD's did not, i guess they are using a different source for roll pins, than other companies.

yeah...DD is the greatest.

Don't use that DPMS shit.  Those are complete junk.  their triggers blow.  They're not even mil spec.  You should only buy RRA and maybe Stag if you're really desperate.  Don't buy anything that's not a major badass ARF name.
oh...and stay away from Palmetto State Armory MOE LPK....those are cheap.

I suggest you read the CoC for this forum.  Sometimes an occasional joke is ok but now you are just wasting bandwidth.  Take your BS elsewhere.

Oh shit, cops.  My bad.

I'll just join in the 3000 other threads about best LPK, barrel, upper group, handguard, detent spring,  buy my rifle for me.............. because they aren't a waste of bandwidth.

I'm not sold on DD LPKs, they seem to have a fair number of reported issues with out of spec parts. And it seems to be ongoing. Not sure if this is old stock still in dealer inventories or what...

I used a bunch of DPMS LPKs and they were mostly garbage.

I switched to Stag and RRA and even had problems there (more with Stag, the RRA stuff was almost all decent).

Spikes recently set out to find the best lower parts from a variety of sources and created their own LPK. It's pretty good.

You could also, as mentioned, buy Colt parts.

You don't think a guy with over 20000 posts knew which LPK to get?

No.  I don't know where the bulk of his posts came from.  He could be over in the AK section most of the time.  Maybee he's a 1911 guy, maybe he spends the bulk of his time in GD.  I have 13K+ posts.  If I asked a basic question in the 1911 forum would I be expected to know the answer?
