There are a few places that sell small parts and will mail them rather than ripping you a new one on shipping –– can't remember off the top of my head, but someone should provide a link shortly.

I came primarily to suggest you at least consider THISwhen you replace it. Very easy and worthwhile mod, IMHO.    ETA:  N/M

I think I missed something between these two posts. Safety detent and spring being the operative words. I see several making this recommendation in the referenced thread but I'm not sure what they're thinking as the selector spring is housed largely in the grip. Maybe someone can enlighten me here.

You didn't miss anything –– I read safety detent and my mind heard take-down detent and I posted the link without giving it a second thought.  My bad.

(Probably because I've sent several take-down detents/springs flying across the room over the years.  Don't ever recall doing that with the other one while changing out grips...)

I used to buy my little parts from bushmaster just because I found their website pretty easy to use, and they didn't hit me too hard on the shipping (they sent them in little baggies in an envelope, so it damn sure shouldn't be too much money)

Are there no stores in your area that sell/service ARs?  The Buffalo Gun Center is near me, and they seem to have all of those little parts (including 4-40 set screws) for a very reasonable price.
