FUCK YEAH. Just had to get that off my chest. Bought a Del-Ton kit early this year for my 17th bday. 16" Mid-length 1x9 chrome lined and a flat top.
Last night my dad and I went to SGC and bought a Firebird FPX-15 stripped lower.

Couple hours and one blemish (hammering the bolt catch pin in) later...

Thinking that I will throw a Magpul MOE or CTR stock, MOE grip, and MOE foregrip all in FDE. And Primary Arms' upcoming 4x compact scope...? Primary Arms 4-16x...? Not sure.  Maybe some color fill too.. Quite honestly, Im disappointed with Magpul. All this stuff people love about them and what not and the fit and finish of their stuff is crap! over molded plastic here and there, gaps in some places.. Not sure if I actually will get that stuff because of that.
Will give a range report later today, and of course better pics.

where are you seeing finish issues on magpul stuff?

pics?

I personally don't use their stocks, but thats just because VLTOR has sold me on theirs. But id be interested in checking out your issues just out of curiousity sake.

on the gun or guns in general? I bought my first gun when I was probably 10.. Mossberg 500A
Then I was hooked.. 1911, GSG-5, AK, S&W 642, and now this AR. Only had financial help on a couple.

I havent played with it in person or a stock but, from that pic.. and I read a review of the MIAD grip and there was a small gap in it. Then when I went to my gun place, it had the same thing.. and so do many of the ones on Google.
Gap no gap Being the cheapest flip up rear and tan Im gonna get it anyways but just wish Magpul would clean it up a little. The VLTOR looks good and the price is pretty close to the Magpul.
I dont really want to "diss" the Magpul being that I have no real experience with them, but from the pics I have seen the quality isnt all that impressive for how many great reviews they get.

Thanks it was pretty fun. I really like the Firebird FPX-15 receiver so far. The quality seems real nice and it has a receiver tension screw and trigger over-travel screw.

Here's a pic I took yesterday of the final product.. bit blurry

Shot it today. Love it. Got it down to be about 1" group at 25yrds, standing, w/ el-cheapo red dot.
≤1/2in benched. Pretty good considering this sight..

Had one issue.. After probably 35-40 rounds, the safety was stuck in safe.
Same thing happened while I was putting it together until I pressed the safety so it was practically flush with the receiver, then I screwed in the grip. I did the same thing at the range today but tightened the grip further. Its not flush with the receiver now but 1/10" or so and it works fine like it did before but tighter.
Wasnt a matter of it being cocked or not either.

Bump-  safety slector issue. It works fine then after a bunch f
of switching, it gets stuck. Just fixed it again, little differently, we'll see how it goes.
any ideas?

no ideas eh..

How about, now my magazine wont slide in as easy as it did a few days ago.. I have to really slap it in and there is very little side-to-side play and it does not drop out like it did (unless I really push it to the point that the entire button is in the receiver)

Rotate the mag catch out a turn till you get it to the right tension you probably have it screwed into the button to far you can loosen it a turn or two to get it where you want it.

Tried that and it made no difference. It might have dropped easier (can't recall right now) but the same amount of force was needed to really SMACK it into place.

If you are inserting the mag with the bolt forward/closed, it's going to need a slap to get it to seat.
