I'm building my first M4 and I'm stuck on which muzzle break to put on it..I live in ny so it MUST be a muzzle break and not flash hider/suppressor. Also i will have to either blind pin or weld it..But should I get?????

Do you shoot in crowded areas (e.g., a busy range, a match with multiple shooters on the line, etc.) or from under a covered position?  If you do, the popular 3-gun brakes/comps might not make you any friends.  Those brakes include the DPMS Miculek, Surefire MB556K, SJC Titan, Cooley, and the Rolling Thunder.  They are very effective at controlling muzzle flip though.

Less obnoxious comps include the Battle Comp and PWS FSC556.

X2

Got some dirty looks last time at the range. Ive got a 14.5 with the Cooley pinned and they couldn't believe it was a 5.56

Oh well, the shooting range is suppose to be loud. Thats why I bring my ear plugs

Fsc556 has a lot of flash hiding without a flash hider classification by the batfe

This one looks pretty cool, Think I may try it on my next build.  Here's their site, with a lot of vidoes. http://174.36.133.117/?page_id=20

The PWS FSC556 works very well. Another not yet mentioned, and a pretty inexpensive choice, would be the Nordic Components Tactical Brake . I used one of these recently in a match and was quite impressed, but it is loud and produces a large fireball at the muzzle that is noticeable even in bright sunlight.

Ear plug or muffs are a must anyways
no different than shooting next to someone with a larger caliber
Man those 50cal have muzzle blast
