So I am trying to upgrade my 6920 and I am having trouble getting the front sight and sling mount off. Does anyone have any detailed pictures or instructions for me so I don't destroy my rifle? I also will need to take off the for grip spring so I can add a LaRue Tact 9 inch, can I have a little help with that too? Thanks so much for the help. I have some pictures, but I am not sure how to upload them into the post? Thanks, Matt

If you go to this site, it will walk you through the process... http://www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=3&f=4&t=226782
I just removed the FS on my BCM this weekend, it was a bitch and ended up breaking two punches. Found that I wasn't holding it firmly enough to get a good hit. So got some 1x4 lumber and screwed it down on a bench making somewhat of a jig to lay the FSB. Then used another piece of lumber and screwed it in over the top of the FSB securing it in place. As a precaution, i leveled the entire upper so it didn't put any strain on any part of the upper. Then I retrieved a concave nail set punch (the concave bottom self centered itself over the taper pin) placed it over the pin (left to right) and gave it a solid whack with a 3# hammer and it popped right out. The trick is the FSB has to be solid so the effect of the hammer isn't transferred of the pins. A heavy hammer is definitely a plus, one good whack is better than several taps which bounce all over marring the surface... |
| I understand what your talking about with the A Post for the front sight pins to remove, but the sling mount attachment is a separate piece and I am not sure how to take those pins out. Its a individual piece that sits in between the front sight attachment points. Any ideas? Thanks |
| You only need to remove one pin and the brackets arm will usually swing around enough for it to pull over the barrel and through the FSB ... the couple I have taken off did so pretty easily with the right tools ... solid surface to work on or vise to lock the barrel in and proper size punch and decent hammer. |
