Finally finished my first black rifle.  Its a Spikes lower with a Del-Ton mid length upper kit.  Everything went together great.  The only concern I have is the trigger pull seems really short.  I was able to complete the function test and everything is fine but the trigger is just not coming back very far before releasing the hammer.  Is this normal or do I ahve an error somewhere?  Ready for the range this weekend just a little nervous about the trigger.

Short pull, as compared to WHAT? As compared to an AK? As compared to other ARs?

Need a point of reference here, but ARs don't have a lot of pre-travel to them.

Will the trigger fire while the safety is engaged?

Since you built the rifle, think about this.  There is no linkage in the trigger to hammer interface.  The front of the trigger is the surface that the hammer hook rests against.  As soon as you start to pull the trigger, it starts moving that angled face against the hammer hooks.  No take up.  Since the trigger only need to move the front face a few 10 thousands of an inch until the hammer is released, there CAN"T be much trigger travel.
It isn't like a pistol, whose trigger is not directly connected to the hammer, nor like most other rifles which also have intervening parts between the trigger and the hammer or striker.

thanks for all the help.  Everything checks out fine and the safety is working.  I checked out a friends and the travel seems about he same.  Just used to pistols and alot more trigger travel.  I need to figure out to to post pics so I can show it off.
