Ok so i'm trying to install a DD lite 9 on a new upper receiver and am following these instructions (sounds easy enough)
http://www.weaponevolution.com/forum/showthread.php?1-Daniel-Defense-Lite-Rail-install-guide-and-pictorial-review Anyway after inserting the barrel into the notch on the receiver I have put on the collar in the appropriate direction. I've lubed the threads with molly grease as well. However when I spin on the barrel nut and get it tight (even to 60ft/lbs) I still have at least 1-2mm of play between the collar and the barrel nut. So it spins freely and won't lock down in position. This doesnt appear to be an insignificant amount which could be filed off of the receiver. Anyone have any similar issue or ideas? Is my receiver strangly out of spec or did i receive an odd sized barrel nut? Any thoughts or ideas would be appreciated....Thanks! |

Remember that the barrel nut collar will still spin, and that this is part of the design. |
| Thanks guys - I thought they meant it would spin until you tightened it down to the 50ft/lbs and it just wasn't intuitive that bolting the rail to the collar would keep things locked down. However it did just as you stated and its all together now complete with gas block and all! Can't wait to give it a try! |
| That ability to spin the collar is what is so great about the Lite rail. Unlike the DD M4 or YHM rails where you must get that #&*%^*&$(#()$*% gas tube hole lined up exactly with the hole in the upper and absolutely perfect so the forends rail lines up with the upper's rail, on the DD Lite you just crank down the barrel nut, put on the forend, throw the gas tube through the hole and tighten that sucker down. |
