So I've built my first AR-15 (details here).  I went out and test fired it the first time this past weeked.  I used the PMC 55 gr FMJ-BT bullets and the mags were new Army issue 30 rnd mags.  At first, the bolt wouldn't cycle all the way were it was chambering the next round.  It would pretty much always eject the spent casing.  After about 20 rnds, the bolt would cycle fine and the next 100 rnds were fine.  Is this just a break in issue?  Should this be something to be concerned about?

Shoot the heck out of it and see if you still have problems.  Maybe there wasn't any lubrication in the bolt/carrier etc and it was a tad rough, now it's smoothed out...

I'll say you need more lube, some ammo runs better with a wet gun than dry (radway green, wolf, etc), so just give it a few squirts of CLP and it should even out as it works in.

Tried the clp and it worked great... also changed to IMI 5.56 NATO 62 gr rounds... had no trouble cycling this time... the groupings are still a little wide, but the heavier rounds made an improvement

I replaced a bolt once and, before it would run anything without a hitch, until the lugs broke(bad/no heat treat).once I dropped the new bolt in,it started jamming, would not eject and would run a live round up underneath the spent brass.I checked the bolt to carrier fit. It(gas rings) was so tight it would not function right.I had to work the bolt and carrier till it loosened up somewhat.Seemed that the gas rings were a hair on the over sized side.maybe just some break in time.It shouldn't be this way as the weapon should fire flawless out of the box so to say.I guess all parts are not made to the same specs from any given manufacturer.
