Building a AR15 with a 20 bull barrel 1/8.  Do I need to purchase a bipod?

Depends, if you are only going to be shooting from bench you don't need a bipod.  It totally depends on your use if you need a bipod or not.  If all your shooting is going to be from a bench, a bipod is a poor also ran to a good rest.  If you plan on taking prone field shots then get a bipod, but if not, why bother?  Unless I am going varmint hunting I never put a bipod on any of my rifles.  When it comes to hunting anything but varmints, a good set of shooting sticks is much quicker and easier to use than any bipod I have seen.  They weigh less and do double duty as a walking stick, nothing I have ever seen an attached bipod do.
