My RRA, as we all know, has a commercial buffer tube.  Can I use a Mil Spec tube instead?  Are the threads the same?  I know the commercial is larger in diameter than the milspec, but is the thread diameter and pitch the same?

The thread diameters are the same.

In the mil-spec versions the manufacturer will mill the rest of the tube to be flush with the threads, in the commercial tubes they leave this step out and the tread diameter is smaller than the tube.  Note if you are going to use a mil-spec tube that you are going to need a mil-spec stock as well.

Yes, tubes should be a direct swap...but you'll need a new stock too. ( you may have known that, but I thought I'd throw it out there)

Not quite but the right idea.  The commercial tube threads are single point cut or chased and are the same diameter as the tube.  The mil-spec tubes have rolled threads which raises the threads above the diameter of the tube body.
