I'm looking at getting a CMMG bargain bin rifle to play around on.

––are "stock" handguards and the fixed front sight removable so they can be replaced?

That is all.  Go easy, I'm slowly learning.

Yes, they can be replaced...      COOP

With enough hitting and banging, anything's removable.    But yes, you'll be able to remove them.  The front sight will be tricker as you'll need to punch out the pins holding it in.

The layman wouldn't say the front sight is removable, but the handguards sure are.

Not sure I agree with this. I would think 80% (probably higher in the Build It Yourself forum) of this community would see themselves up to this task. The right tools obviously make this task easier but there are no mysteries here.

Just throwing this out there, but you can build a new gun for cheaper.

I have two railed rifles and I left the front sights on.   Why bother removing them?
