Possibly stupid question, but here goes. I recently bought a BCM BCG for my first build that I'm working on. I noticed that the black extractor O-ring was seperate from the BCG. After reading a little, I guess the o-ring isn't necessary if the BCG is extracting fine with just the spring. If it's working fine without it, are there any pros/cons to leaving it off vs putting it on?

Save the O ring. My two run fine without it.

As stated if your extractor is working I would leave it out, only because I reload and I've noticed deep extractor marks on brass shot from the one rifle I have an O-Ring on.
If your brass is not being extracted, clean the chamber, if you still have problem the O-Ring will help.

I put mine in thinking I might as well use it. I have since removed it as it chews up brass pretty good and made cleaning up all the tiny peices of brass out of the chamber a hassle. I will keep it for when, if ever ,I have extraction issues. Until then it's just a nuisance.

Thanks for the info. I guess I'll run without it unless I have a problem. I'm almost to the point of trying my rifle out, just need handguards and sights. I love my complete rifle, but can't wait to have one I put together myself.
