Here is the situation...I have the entire lower put together except for the fact that no matter what I try, I can not get the selector to turn from safe to semi.  I have tried multiple time to install and un-install and it just wont work.  If it does turn, it will only turn once and then it seizes.  Can you guys shed any light on this?

Is your hammer down?

yes it is.  I just googled a thread on this site that another guy started.  He had the same issue as me and it ended up being a garbage detent and selector switch made by CMMG.

I used a RRA LPK, no problem.
Hope someone else can help.

Maybe its just the detent.  I'm working on mine right now myself and before I screw the grip down it WORKS, but its inconsistent.  I am not using the CMMG safety selector I'm using the ambi one from spike's, but otherwise cmmg kit + spikes lower for me.

ETA: I function tested it a ton and now it seems to work just fine.  Maybe somethin about it had to wear down the tiniest bit, but seems good to go now, pretty smooth operation.

What grip are you using? I'm using the magpul moe one and by the time it gets tightened down all the way it starts binding regardless of the tension on the spring.

Your grip screw may be too long.

Try backing the screw off a few turns, and see if you can move the selector. If that resolves it, you can either shorten the screw, or use a washer or two to space it out...

If it still sticks, try a little rounding off of the end of the detent with a file, or a light-medium grit sandpaper.

My resolution was to actually use the CMMG LPK grip screw instead of the magpul grip screw despite the instructions saying otherwise.  As a result?  Grip securely fastened all the way, safety selector works just fine, all is well for me :)  Hopefully ramair is having better luck.

I am using the magpul MOE grip and screw.  I fixed the problem.  I used a fine grit sandpaper and sanded down the point of the detent.  I made about 15 passes on the sandpaper and viola!!  Its fixed.  I can now tighten the grip all the way down and the selector now moves from safe to fire without binding up.

For those having issues still, its not the screw.  File the detent down some.  Works like a charm!

Put a little grease (not much) on the detent too so you can prevent it from freezing up.

I didn't have to use the detent fix.  Honestly like I said the CMMG grip bolt threaded in better, a lotttt better, than the magpul one.  Different solutions, but both of us are happy, rock on.
